I have a teenage daughter, and like many parents, I’m
concerned about the people she hangs out with. My daughter Amy is just 14, but
she seems to be running with a crowd that is older. Yes, I know some of her
friends from school: Rachel, Sara, Olivia and Marnie, but I don’t know some of
the others. She met a few of them at parties and the beach, but I’ve still yet
to meet them myself.
The thing that concerns me is that some of these older girls
seem a little … fast. No wait. That’s too nice. They seem downright trashy—and
I don’t want them to influence my daughter in any negative way. But how do I
make sure that doesn’t happen? I mean, if you tell a teen they can’t do this or
that, then they just go behind your back and do exactly this and that, track an iphone.
I’ve tried to have nice conversations about it all with Amy,
but I don’t think she really understands. In fact, I know she doesn’t. She doesn’t realize how crazy the world is out there and how much trouble she
can get into. Thanks to reality t.v. and social media, her role models are
borderline whores. The Internet is filled with girls exposing themselves or
posting slutty selfies of themselves so that they can get everyone to ogle them
and tell them how hot they are. My daughter doesn’t realize the kind of trouble
that that type of behavior can invite, spy app.
I have no idea what she’s doing on her iPhone, but I’m
pretty sure that at some point, she’s going to do something stupid. I don’t
want to wait until it’s too late to find out that she sent some boy a
half-naked picture of herself and then he forwarded it to all of his friends.
So let me tell you what I did to help stop this from happening. I installed a
spy app on her phone.
I know that sounds terrible, but I don’t care. She’s my
daughter. I’m responsible for her safety. That’s not an easy thing to do in
today’s world with digital devices. Anyone can hack her phone and steal all of
her pictures. It happened to all those celebrities last year: Kaley Cuoco,
Jennifer Lawrence, Emma Watson, and a whole bunch of others, spy apps for android. Why couldn’t it
happen to Amy?
I put this app called Auto Forward on her phone so that I
can see what pictures she’s taking and sending, who is contacting her on social
media, and what calls and texts she’s making and to who. I’ve also used it to
track her with the GPS locator, because I know that some of the girls she’s
hanging with smoke and, I suspect, drink, and they may try to coax her to one
of their wild parties.
I’m not spying a lot, but I’m checking up when I feel like I
need to. I want to make sure she doesn’t get into any trouble. She’s only 14!
That’s too young for some of the stuff that the Internet is exposing her to and
I want to make sure that the web and all the dangers that exist on it don’t
hurt her. So far Auto Forward has really helped ease my worries. I would
recommend it to every parent.
