KILLFIES: The Deadly Result of Extreme Selfies

It’s no secret that millennials love their selfies. Just take a look at social media. Facebook, Twitter, SnapChat, you name it. They are all filled with shot after self-shot photo of some young person mugging for the cell phone camera. Sexy poses, gang sign poses, duck face poses. It’s a world (wide web) of posers. But did you know that people are dying because of these pictures?

People are dying—literally—to take a great selfie.

A recent study found that 127 people worldwide have died while taking a selfie. Now, that may not seem like a lot, but when you consider how they died….

The selfie craze has caused enough deaths that they’ve actually been classified now as “killfies.” No joke. In fact, it’s been said that more deaths occur from selfies than from shark attacks. And it turns out that most are from falling from great heights.

Taking a picture of yourself should not get you killed.

1000 ways to die—the selfie edition.
Many of the deaths occur from thrill-seekers wanting to take an extreme selfie. They visit a popular site of danger and want to capture the moment with a selfie. A good number of accidents involve water. Specifically drowning. Others involved snapping selfies while driving, standing near train tracks, or while holding a loaded firearm.

Experts say that people just aren’t careful. They’re just so involved that they don’t pay attention to the reality around them.

Politician’s Missing Son Found!

Carl Conyers, the college-aged son of U.S. Representative John Conyers, went missing Tuesday from his off-campus apartment near the University of Houston. He was found “unharmed” days later, but details about his disappearance have not been released.

According to authorities, Conyers was last seen by his roommate, Chet Ball, at their apartment. Ball told police that Conyers was covering his face with his t-shirt while cooking something and acted cagey. Ball chalked it up to school stress.

Conyers' girlfriend, Daisha Lewis, was incredibly worried and did a bit of detective work trying to track him down. Having last seen Conyers on Monday, she went to visit him at work the next day, but was told he never showed up. Concerned, she went to his apartment and found his bedroom in a state of disarray. Lewis found clothes piled on the bed. She said his wallet—with all of its contents—keys, and cell phone were all left behind. However, his old phone was gone.

The next day she got a direct tweet from Conyers while at his apartment. It said, “I’m OK.” An hour later, he tweeted, “Everyone come meet me at the UBC”—which is the campus’ student center.

When Lewis, Ball, and a group of other friends went to the UBC to meet Conyers, someone went back to his room and took his debit card, ID, and some clothes. Lewis discovered the missing items after she returned there. No one knows yet if it was Conyers himself who did it.

Completely perplexed, Lewis checked the tweets from her boyfriend. They were sent from the same IP address as the apartment’s Wi-Fi. That led her to believe they may have been tweeted from the parking lot. She then went and checked his laptop, phone messages, FaceTime, browser history, and bank account for any suspicious activity. She found nothing. Shortly after, the police were called after that.

Conyers eventually turned up. He had shaved the beard that he spent the better part of the school year growing and didn’t provide any answers to what was going on. The investigation is ongoing.

Find your loved ones with cell phone tracker software.

Missing persons cases occur all over the country daily. They don’t all end up with the individual being found. That’s why it’s important that you keep an eye on your own loved ones and pay attention to any odd behavior. And one of the best ways to do so is with high-quality cell tracker software.

If you want to monitor cell phone activity safely and securely, you should do your research and look for a product that suits your needs. There are so many spy apps on the market today that it's difficult to know which ones are legitimate. It's wise to take a look at all of the spyware reviews that you can, before you go ahead and purchase one.

Conyers is home safe and sound. While his girlfriend did a lot to try and find him, his parents may have been able to actually do so had they installed tracking software on his old phone. You should learn from their mistake and install a top spy app product on your child's phone today.

Protect Your Child from Abuse

A 31-year-old woman in Pennsylvania was arrested and charged with child abuse for binding her boyfriend’s son with duct tape and forcing him to consume hot sauce and laxatives.

The Lancaster County District Attorney’s Office stated that Danielle Miller force-fed the 4-year-old boy the concoction, locked him in a closet for four months, verbally abused him, and forced him to sit on a toilet for hours. The child was also found to have cuts, bruises, and burns on his body.

Authorities say that Miller abused the helpless child because he wasn’t hers. Her boyfriend, Nathan Duke, had had the little boy with another woman. The couple has three other kids—all of whom seem to have not endured any abuse. The boy is now staying with relatives while Miller and Duke remain in jail.

Miller is being held on $300,00 bail. She is being charged with eight felonies total, including five counts of aggravated assault. Duke is being held on $100,000 bail. He is charged with numerous felony accounts of endangering the child and for conspiring to conceal the abuse.

No one knew about the horror.

The couple lives in Quarryville, a suburb of Philadelphia, with the four kids. People who knew the family were all shocked at the news. According to a neighbor, they all seemed like a regular family—and gave no indication of the abuse that was occurring inside the home.

That may seem surprising for many to hear, but it’s not unusual. Nobody really knows what goes on behind closed doors. That’s why it’s up to you to do all that you can to protect any child that you suspect is being abused.

How to protect your child from abuse.

It seems so absurd to think that someone would hurt their own child—or one that they care for—but it happens. That’s why a great number of parents today are installing cell phone tracking software on their loved ones’ phones.

Some top spy apps can be installed on iPhones and iPads, as well as on Android devices. They can help an adult search for signs of abuse by letting them see the pictures and videos that are on those devices. They also give them total access to every email, text, social media post, and more.

Sadly, there was probably no way for someone to protect that little boy from Miller and his father. However, that doesn’t have to be the case for you and your family. A reliable smartphone monitoring software program can give you the added security you want and need when it comes to protecting your children.
